Bharat Bill Payment System is an ecosystem where different categories of billers can register for bill payments such as utility bills, loan EMIs, school fees, subscriptions, and more. NPCI runs BBPS that enables bill payments via digital channels (banks) and through agents & banks

The BBPS payments system is maintained by the National Payments Corporation of India. BBPS clears and settles transactions routed through it. All market participants are also required to follow NPCI business standards, rules, and procedures. BOUs are entities that can onboard billers onto BBPS, and are regulated by this body.

BBPS services are offered by BOUs (Biller Operating Units) and COUs (Customer Operating Units). Zraifin integrates with BOUs and COUs. A BOU serves billers, i.e. entities that generate bills and want to collect payments. Zraifin's BOU integration allows billers to list on BBPS to enable collection via BBPS apps. Customer-facing platforms offer various products to customers. Zraifin’s COU integration helps such platforms become a collection agent for BBPS and add a feature to let their users pay any BBPS biller.
